Mevgal’s Gourmet Cheeses: Mediterranean Delights at the 2009 NASFT Summer Fancy Food Show

For two days straight the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City buzzed with people at the 55th annual Summer Fancy Food Show held by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT). Gourmet food enthusiasts from around the nation pilgrim to New York City every year to attend this fancy exhibition: it’s a mouth-watering fountain of aromas and delectable cuisines from around the world. This year, in the midst of this feast of flavors was to be found a Mediterranean treasure: Mevgal Gourmet Cheeses.

Mevgal presented parts of its cheese product line, including the worldwide known Mevgal Protected Designation of Origin (P.D.O.) Feta, the creamy P.D.O. Manouri, the P.D.O. Kasseri, the P.D.O. Kefalograviera and Dry Myzithra, none of which are made with preservatives and are all rBST free.

Of course, Mevgal’s representatives could not reveal the recipe, but they did tell her: “It all starts with fresh milk!” To that they added: “Our gourmet cheeses are the products of ancient Mediterranean traditions and recipes. We put much love and care into the craft of cheese making.”

With the collaboration and distribution efforts of Atalanta, Mevgal is looking forward to bringing to the American supermarket chains a range of their traditional Greek gourmet cheeses. Mevgal is one of the top three dairy companies in Greece and the pioneers in the pre-packing of Greek Feta.
