Healthy Life

Promoting a healthy and nutritious lifestyle is important for us at MEVGAL. That’s one of the reasons why quality is essential in everything we do. In order to maintain a high quality product line we faithfully use only the freshest milk available. MEVGAL offers incentives to the farms in order to strictly feed the animals all natural, unprocessed fodder and to also let the animals roam freely on green pastures and meadows.

Healthy Eating

We all know that a healthy lifestyle can only be accomplished through a combination of exercise and healthy eating. We will leave the exercise part up to you, but will however provide you with helpful information about cheese and how it can, and should, become a part of your healthy eating habits. Most people associate cheese with fat; it’s what gives the cheese its flavor and texture, and although fat is part of the cheese it only counts for a portion of what cheese is all about. Some other powerful and significant elements of cheese are proteins, calcium and vitamins.

Protein. Every single cell in your body contains protein. Protein is used for building and repairing tissue, it helps in the production of enzymes and hormones and it’s necessary for healthy bones, muscles, cartilage and skin. Protein is a “macronutrient”, which means the body needs a rather large amount of it. Fat and carbohydrates are also considered “macronutrients”, but unlike fat and carbohydrates, proteins cannot be stored in the body. The protein found in cheese is of tremendous value to the human body because it contains essential amino acids.
Calcium. Cheese is an excellent source of calcium; a mineral needed in order to maintain healthy bones. Calcium assists in maintaining heart rhythm, muscle function and it also helps control high blood pressure.
Vitamins. Most vitamins found in cheese come from the B-complex vitamins. They produce energy and also help with the handling of proteins from food.

A healthy and balanced diet includes a variety of foods from all five major food groups (grains, vegetables, fruits, milk and dairy products, and last but not least meats, beans, fish and nuts). It’s important to remember that dairy has a lot of nutritional benefits that should be included in our daily intake.
